TT #110

Thirteen Movies I've Seen This Summer

I've done this before with book reviews (TTs #66 and #94), and it worked well. Since we saw so many movies this summer, and I've hardly posted about any of them, I thought this would be a good excuse to catch up on them before I forget what we watched.

I'll link to the reviews as I finish them. Until then, the link will go to the IMDB page for each movie.

In no particular order (mainly because I can't remember in what order we saw them!):

  1. ** Babylon A.D.

  2. **** Death Race

  3. ****½ The Dark Knight

  4. **** Hancock

  5. ****½ WALL-E

  6. ***½ Hellboy II: The Golden Army

  7. *** Kung Fu Panda

  8. ***½ The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

  9. **** You Don't Mess with the Zohan

  10. **** Iron Man

  11. **** Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

  12. ***½ The Incredible Hulk

  13. *** Forgetting Sarah Marshall

That's not all--I remembered a few more while I was getting the links and pictures for these: Start the Revolution Without Me (a Netflix pick), The Forbidden Kingdom, Flawless (saw on the plane), Drillbit Taylor (another airplane movie), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (watched on DVD with Camden)... I'm sure I'm still forgetting some. We watched a LOT of movies this summer.

What movies did you watch this summer? Let me know in the comments.

Did you not LOVE Dark Knight? I thought Hancock was hilarious, though could've ended better. I'm waiting for Iron Man on DVD.

I liked Hancock. I thought the spin on super powers and spouses was great. Happy TT!

I obviously need to play catch up - I only saw Indiana Jones!

I loved Iron Man. I thought I'd only like it when I went to the theater, but I was wrong.

I saw most of those. I really hated the Zoltan movie, though....

You are definitely an action fan! I unfortunately saw NONE this summer:( Great list..took quite an effort!

I haven't seen any of the films on your list. Happy TT.

I LOVED The Dark Knight, as you can tell by my blog design LOL! I also saw and enjoyed:

Ironman
Hancock
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Hellboy II

I got an error window, so I'll comment again.
Some of those are still waiting for me on DVD, just had no time!
My TT is about online purchases.

Wow...i didn't see any movies this summer...but I'm waiting for a few to come out on DVD...hehe.

Happy TT

I only saw Indy. I'm waiting for the rest to come on DVD to watch them. It's cheaper than going to the movies.

I have not seen any of those...need to get out more! I saw the Waterhorse last.

Great movie list! We really liked Ironman, The Dark Knight and Death Race.

Happy TT!

My middle school students told me about Death Race. What a plot! thanks for sharing this list. I missed a lot, though I saw plenty!

How was forgetting Sarah Marshall...I was tempted but didnt see it yet. Maybe when the video comes out. You have some good ones on your list. I loved WALL-E:) Happy TT my friend and thanks for stopping by.

Sadly the only one of those I've seen is Kung Fu Panda. That one was cute though.

Good luck getting to your movie reviews and I look forward to reading them. There are some on this list that I haven't seen yet but would love to. Thanks for visiting my TT! :)

Carmen: I did indeed love Dark Knight, and I agree with you on Hancock. Still lots of fun, though.

Brenda ND: I liked that about Hancock, too--it was a different kind of superhero movie.

TAMY: ah, but did you like it?

Alice: I was pleasantly surprised by Iron Man, too. I think I'm starting to see why so many people rave about Robert Downey Jr.

Mielikki: my son hated Zohan, too, and my husband thought it was just okay. I really enjoyed it, though.

Tammy: I'm definitely an action fan.

Sarah: did you see any other movies? I'm always up for something different to put in my Netflix queue.

Janet: I love your Dark Knight blog design! I should have mentioned it when I stopped by. Very nice.

Tink: if we hadn't spent a month in the States this summer, several of those would have ended up in my Netflix queue, too.

Yasmin: there were a couple I wished I'd waited for the DVD... :(

Tempest: I know what you mean. We're seriously spoiled here with the AAFES theaters. I think it's $4.50 for first-run movies, $3.50 for movies that have been out for a while. And the popcorn and drinks are similarly less expensive. When we were in the U.S., even though our local megaplex had a military discount, it was half again as much, and the popcorn and drinks were ridiculously expensive.

Meju: I haven't seen The Water Horse--do you recommend it? Should I rent the DVD?

Nicole: we really liked those, too. Though I liked Death Race better than Carl did. He thinks it's just because it starred Jason Statham. He could be right. ;-)

Sandy: middle school students? We didn't take our middle-schooler to see it. Though I wouldn't mind if he watched the DVD with us at home, I guess.

Lori: Forgetting Sarah Marshall was better than I expected. I hadn't planned on seeing it, but it was on at a convenient time and I wanted to go to a movie. I'm glad I did. Wall-E was exceedingly cute, wasn't it?

Robin: I'd missed Kung Fu Panda--my son saw it with friends, so there went my excuse for going to a cartoon. But it was showing on the plane when we went to the States. Very cute.

Verabear: thanks. I've got one review done so far. This is going more slowly than I'd planned.

Gosh - you've seen lot of the movies that I only seen a few of them this summer. I saw Dark Knight (love it!) and Sex In the City (which I know you won't like) - those are the only one I can remember.

I really want to see Wall-E, Indiana Jones, Death Race, Hancock and Kung Fu Panada. I guess this is good as excused to Netflix it *grin*

I was unsure about The Incredible Hulk. Because I felt the last one I saw was not too good. No excitment in it. But I heard many people said that the new one had lot of action in them? Your thoughts?

I saw Indy, Iron Man, Harold & Kumar, X-Files, and Mamma Mia.

Wow. And here I thought that I never go to the cinema.

Ohmygosh ... it's been way too long since I went to the theater to see a movie that I don't know anything about any of these. Thanks for stopping by my T-13 at Small Reflections.
Hugs and blessings,
