Monday Morning Meme

I found this at Culture Kills:

Trick or Treat: Halloween Meme

1. What is your favorite work of horror fiction?

Dracula

2. Who is your favorite monster?

the Vord from Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series.

3. What horror movie gives you the most chills?

The Rocky Horror Picture Show? Cannibal the Musical? I'm not a fan of horror movies.

4. Freddy versus Jason?

I guess Freddy because I did actually see the original Nightmare on Elm Street, but I've never seen any of the Friday the 13ths.

5. Ghosts or goblins?

Goblins.

6. What is your scariest encounter with the paranormal?

Nothing in real life.

7. Do you believe in ghosts?

I'm skeptical. I believe there's plenty that we don't understand yet, but I'm far from certain that the answer is dead people.

8. Favorite Halloween costume?

I was quite pleased with the Ichabod Crane costume I came up with one year when I was a kid, complete with Silly Putty nose. I even won a prize.

9. If you had an unlimited budget, what would your fantasy costume be for this Halloween?

Oh, I don't know. Something really goofy. On the order of a bag of french fries, but something I'd never seen before.

10. When was the last time you went trick or treating?

Myself? I think I was 13. The last time I took the kids trick or treating was probably around 10 years ago--at least before I got CFS. I tend to be the one giving out the candy.

11. What's your favorite Halloween candy?

Smarties--the American ones, not the European ones, which are basically M&Ms.

12. Tell us about a scary nightmare you had.

When I was a child, I had a recurring dream that someone shot an arrow into my parents' bedroom window and it went through the house and killed my little brother.

13. What is your supernatural fear?

Nothing specific, just things that go bump in the night.

14. What is your creepy-crawlie fear?

Worms. *shudder*

15. Would you ever stay in a real haunted house overnight?

Sure, why not?

16. Are you a traditionalist (just a face) Jack O'Lantern carver, or do you get really creative with your pumpkins?

I like to get creative, but on my own--I wouldn't buy one of those fancy kits. We always have a puking Jack O'Lantern, at a minimum.

17. How much do you decorate your home for Halloween?

Not much. We used to do more, until our older son was about 5 and started getting really freaked out by even funny or cartoony Halloween decorations. So we got out of the habit.

18. Do you think Halloween is too commercial these days? Do you miss classic Halloween costumes or traditions from your childhood?

I guess it depends on where you are. My kids have almost always come up with their own costumes, even when their friends were sporting expensive professional ones (their choice, by the way). And I like the trend toward more decorating--our neighborhood had some really cool yards this year. But like Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter, I think the stores push the holidays too much for too long.

Darla, oh how fun! Enjoy reading your answers on these questions. Although I'm not sure if I can answer some of them *LOL*!

I love Smarties too! How wild is it that you like it too :) I hope you and your family have a fun and safe Halloween weekend ahead!

I knew you had good taste, Julia! I'm hoping there'll be some Smarties left over after the ravenous hordes come through. :)
