15 All-time Favorite Books
(cross-posted from Facebook)

Rules: Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen books you've read that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes.
  1. Freedom and Necessity by Emma Bull and Steven Brust.
  2. Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.
  3. Hogfather by Terry Pratchett.
  4. Shadowheart by Laura Kinsale.
  5. Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie.
  6. Turn Coat by Jim Butcher.
  7. Pawn in Frankincense by Dorothy Dunnett.
  8. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.
  9. Instructions for Living Someone Else's Life by Mil Millington.
  10. The Phoenix Guards by Steven Brust.
  11. The Warrior's Apprentice by Lois McMaster Bujold.
  12. Menage by Emma Holly.
  13. Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake.
  14. HeartMate by Robin D. Owens.
  15. Midshipman's Hope by David Feintuch.
Well, I followed the instructions--top of my head, only spent 15 minutes on it. Undoubtedly, I've left out some awesome books that I'd rank higher than some of those here, but these are definitely favorites. I only listed one book per author, too, although I could just as easily have listed 15 Pratchett or Butcher books or several by Kinsale, Crusie, Dunnett... well, you get the idea.

I did this one a few weeks ago. Will be interesting to see how the list changes in, say, ten years.
