Monday Morning Meme

1. Eggnog or hot chocolate? Hot chocolate, with a splash of amaretto.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just put them under the tree? Santa leaves a joint present--one for the whole family--sitting out, unwrapped. In the past, he's brought a banjo, board games, and DVD sets of TV series. All the other presents are wrapped.

3. Colored or white lights on tree/house? I like the multi-colored ones. The kids have decided that they prefer the simplicity of plain white, so we may accommodate them this year, at least partially.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? no.

5. When do you put your decorations up?
Hopefully before December 24th.

6. What is your holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
Does fudge count as dessert? Maybe the spiced winter squash.

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child.
Going caroling.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
Never believed. In fact, it was a sore spot between my husband and me about whether tell the kids there was a Santa or not. (he won that one)

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
We open our stockings on Christmas Eve. It's one of my favorite traditions--keeps all the cute little things from getting lost in the shadow of the big gifts on Christmas Day, and extends the gift-giving time. It's a different atmosphere, too.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
Colored lights and lots of wildly assorted ornaments, from fancy ones to ones the kids made in preschool.

11. Snow! Love it or dread it?
I don't mind looking at it, and don't have trouble driving in it, but I'd just as soon not deal with it.

12. Can you ice skate?
Maybe. It's been like 20 years. It's got to be like riding a bike, right?

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
I don't think I've had one specific favorite.

14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you? Family 15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? Fudge, closely followed by pumpkin pie.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Whoops. Already mentioned that. Okay, second favorite: driving around on Christmas Eve with Christmas music playing on the car stereo, looking at Christmas lights.

17. What tops your tree?
A blue spire.

18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?
Giving. I put A LOT of thought into my gifts. :)

19. What is your favourite Christmas song?
Carol of the Bells

20. Candy canes?
Not so much. I might eat one, but mostly I end up throwing out a whole bunch of them in March.

21. Favourite Christmas movie?
classic:
Miracle on 34th Street; contemporary: The Santa Clause

22. What do you leave for Santa?
We used to leave milk & cookies. Not anymore.
