Monday Morning Meme
Julia from A Piece of My Mind tagged me for this 40 Things Meme.
1. Height? 5'3"
2. Have you ever done heroin? Ha. No.
3. Do you own a gun? In the sense that when you're married, it's all community property, yes--that is, Carl has a shotgun.
4. Did you have a favorite babysitter as a child? Yes. There was a family of 5 girls at our church, and the older four babysat us all at one time or another. My favorite was Shirley, the next-youngest, because she let us get away with things.
5. Do you get nervous before doctor appointments? Yes, because I always feel like I'm being judged. Gee, thanks for the reminder. I have my first ob-gyn appointment in 14 years next week.
6. What do you think of hot dogs? I'm a fan. Grilled nearly black, with ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, and cheese, and maybe chili as well. Or the deli kind, boiled, with just ketchup or just mustard.
7. What's your favorite Christmas song? Carol of the Bells.
8. What do you prefer to drink in the morning? I was drinking a variety of teas, but I just got a pod coffee maker, so I'm back to a cup of coffee first thing, then tea later.
9. Is your bathroom clean? Actually, surprisingly, yes. I've actually been keeping our bathroom clean, and Camden cleaned the downstairs bathroom today since my brother- and sister-in-law and nieces came for a visit today.
10. What's your favorite piece of jewelry? A necklace of ivory cubes. Very cool, very unusual.
11. Do you like painkillers? Ibuprofen is my drug of choice.
12. Do you have A.D.D.? No--I'm pretty good at focusing, and I'm very patient.

14. Middle name? Kaye
15. Favorite singer of all time? Freddie Mercury
16. Name 3 drinks you regularly drink: Coffee. Green tea. Water. (I'll keep Julia's answers--mine are the same.)
17. Current worry? That aforementioned ob-gyn appointment.
18. Current hate? sneering, greedy people.
19. Favorite place to be? A hot, sunny beach.
20. How did you bring in the New Year? Setting off fireworks in the backyard with Carl's mom and stepfather. I'm really going to miss that this year--no setting off fireworks on post.
21. Where would you like to go? Someplace warm. San Antonio would be nice--I'm missing my older kids.
22. Do you own slippers? Yes, and I'm wearing them right now.
23. What shirt are you wearing? A leopard-print pajama shirt. It's past my bedtime.
24. Favorite color(s)? It's always been purple, but Carl's affection for orange has started to affect me. Lately, I just like color--bright and vivid.
25. Would you be a pirate? Only if Johnny Depp's included in the package.
26. What songs do you sing in the shower? Don't really sing in the shower. I think and make plans in the shower. In the car, however.... we were singing Simon & Garfunkel, and then went on to old commercials. "Oh, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer weiner...."
27. What did you fear was going to get you at night as a child? The villain in the Nancy Drew book I was reading. I got in so much trouble over those books. I could not get to sleep without finding out whodunit. Then I moved on to Agatha Christie, and that wasn't any better.
28. Best bed sheets as a child? Pink and purple striped sheets. I still had one threadbare top sheet at our house in Texas--I finally threw it out when we were there this summer.
29. Worst injury you've ever had? Last day of school, 7th grade. I ran up the porch steps and put my hand through the screen door window. Probably should have had stitches. I have two two-inch long scars on my left wrist.
30. How many TVs do you have in your house? We don't have them all set up yet, and probably won't since we're down to 1 kid, but there are... 6. Maybe 7. No, 6. Carl took the 7th to his office.
31. Who is your loudest friend? Loudest? Huh. Probably Annie, who's not really loud so much as she is outgoing.
32. Who is your most silent friend? Julia--though she can surprise you, especially if there's karaoke. (hehe)
33. Does someone have a crush on you? My husband does... (tee hee)
34. Do you wish on shooting stars? Nah.
35. What is your favorite book? Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Closely followed by Freedom and Necessity by Emma Bull and Steven Brust
36. What is your favorite candy? Chocolate. The darker the better, particularly with nuts. Or SweeTarts. Depends on my mood.
37. What song do/did you want played at your wedding? We got married in a judge's office. No song. For a while, I wanted the theme from the Star Trek movie--I thought it was a very cool song. Yes, I'm geeky.
38. What song do you want played at your funeral? Not a clue. I don't think I'll care.
39. What were you doing @ 12 AM last night? I'd say, but I try to keep this blog PG-13 rated.
