Monday Morning Meme

Romance Reading Meme

Contemporary, Historical, or Paranormal?

Paranormal

Hardback or Trade Paperback or Mass Market Paperback?

MMP because of price. I buy too many books to want all my books in HB or TP. Plus MMP take up less room. But if it's a must-buy author, I'll buy whichever format the book comes in--I'm not going to wait for the paperback.

Heyer or Austen?
both, or neither. I've enjoyed both, but it's been years since I read Austen so it's hard to compare, and I wasn't blown away by either of them

Amazon or Brick and Mortar?
Amazon... or rather Barnesandnoble.com

Barnes & Noble or Borders?

B&N --online.

Woodiwiss or Lindsay?

never read either

First romance novel you ever remember reading?

It was called Next Stop Gretna, or something like that--a Harlequin I'd bought for my babysitter's birthday because it was inexpensive and I had the money for it. I was probably 10. My mom was horrified that I'd bought a *gasp* romance, wouldn't let me give it to the babysitter, and hid it away in a high cupboard. Where I dug it out sometime later with the help of a stepladder, and read it, being rather unimpressed and confused about why she was so horrified by it.

Alphabetize by author Alphabetize by title or random?

by author, and then within the author's books by title, unless it's a series, and then chronologically.

Keep, Throw Away or Sell?
Keep way too many. Never throw away. I donate a lot. Intend to sell on half.com, but haven't had the time.

Read with dustjacket or remove it?

Leave them on.

Sookie Stackhouse or Anita Blake?

Early Anita Blake. Can't stand Sookie... or the more recent Anita Blake, for that matter, but for different reasons.

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
Chapter breaks or at least section breaks if a long chapter.

"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"?
"It was a dark and stormy night"

Crusie or SEP?

BOTH. :)

Buy or Borrow?

Buy.

Buying choice: Book Reviews, Recommendation or Browse?
This is assuming it's not already on my must-buy list, which is huge. Recommendation is first, then browse, accompanied by reviews.

Tidy ending or Cliffhanger?

Cliffhanger, but only if it's done well.

Morning reading, Afternoon reading or Nighttime reading?

all day, but at night is a must

Series or standalone?

There are a lot of series that I love, but I've noticed that my favorite books tend to be standalones. On the other hand, I'll keep buying a series where I rate all the books 4 stars, but I won't keep buying standalones from an author whose books I rate no higher than 4 stars.

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
Freedom and Necessity by Emma Bull and Steven Brust

What a great meme! Don't you love how horrified your mom was about your babysitter gift? Really shows we've come a long way, baby.
