Weekend Update

I've always been curious -- having read about Europe but never actually having been -- that with gas prices as high as they are, would a diesel be an option? (I note that the three cars you have listed are all probably importable, but I believe that diesels won't be, at least for the near future, until the European and US emissions standards come closer together -- here in California diesel availability has been spotty at best)

I have a boss who loves anything with the three-pointed star on it, a former professor who raved about his A4, and a sister-in-law who won't look at anything that's not a Volvo (safety, for better or worse), but all of those are good choices. I'd guess that on the sporty-to-luxe scale, they'd skew Audi, Merc, and Volvo in that order, but haven't had a chance to try any of them.

Sound like you and your family had a great time at the parade. I enjoy the pictures!

Sorry that San Antonio is no go :( But I hope that eventually you guy make the good decision of your move. Where ever you move to, would you still have the mailbox for the USA residents to sent you packages and stuff?

Mike, diesel is very popular here, but you're right--it's not importable. I'd forgotten to mention that. In fact, the first European car we'd been considering was an Audi diesel, because Carl had driven one for work and loved it. The ones we're considering are all US-specs.

Julia, yes, we'll still have an APO address. Frustrating, but better than not having it. And I have to keep reminding myself, it's lots more efficient than it was 20 years ago.

Will just be sure to let me know if the APO address changed or lese you gonna have to give me the new one :)

OOPs! the word lese is suppose to say "else"
