TBR Challenge for February
For February, read a book with a "musical" title. Be as creative as you like.
Examples from my shelves:
Ain't She Sweet by Susan Elizabeth Phillips (song title)
Song of the Beast by Carol Berg
Record Time by Beverly Brandt (records-->music)
To play, let us know what you read, how it fit the challenge, how you liked it, and how long it had been in your TBR pile.
I chose:
****½ Love Potion #9 by Claire Cross. Contemporary paranormal romance.
I love Claire Cross's recent books, so I've been checking out her backlist, as well as the books she's written as Claire Delacroix and Deborah Cooke.
579 years ago, Sebastian made a vow to Lilith that he would return for her. Gypsy Lilith had fallen in love with Sebastian, but he was convicted of murder, said to have been committed under Lilith's gypsy influence, and hanged.
So Lilith has been waiting for 579 years for Sebastian to return. Now she's in Toronto, and when Mitch Davidson and his two children show up next door on the anniversary of the vow, Lilith knows he must be Sebastian, who's finally come back to her. The problem is, he doesn't seem to remember that he is Sebastian, and she sets about trying to convince him. Part of that is the love potion she concocts to help him remember his love for her, which has hilarious results.
Mitch is starting to fall for his quirky neighbor; he just thinks she has a slight psychological problem and he wants to help her.
Love Potion #9 is a fun, romantic story with a cute romantic twist. Lilith's absolute confidence that Mitch was Sebastian was wonderfully contrasted with Mitch's solid caring.
