Friday Flashback

This one's from February 2002:

Eternally Yours by Jennifer Malin. Contemporary paranormal romance.

What a fun story! A ghost as a matchmaker. Clever idea.

I enjoyed seeing things from Geoffrey's (the ghost's) perspective---it was just a little skewed from the way Lara & Mark saw them, and reminded me of the way Midnight Louie interprets things in Carole Nelson Douglas's mysteries (one of which I'd read just before Eternally Yours, so it was in my mind).

Interesting how Lara & Mark switched sides on the issue of his ancestor. Lara begins by romanticizing the poet, who Mark describes as a womanizer & is rather embarrassed by. The more they learn about him, though, the less Lara likes him, and the more Mark does. And while Lara & Mark are learning about Geoffrey, Geoffrey himself (or his ghost, at least) is learning something, too.

Loved his reaction when he realizes he'd been cursed.

There were a couple of times when I wanted to lock Mark & Lara in that hidden room until they talked to each other, but I did think their emotions & reactions were very realistic.

Loved the house, too---I'd like to see it.

All in all, a very enjoyable read.
