Stardust
***** Stardust. Fantasy.
Directed by: Matthew Vaughn
Starring: Charlie Cox, Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert DeNiro
We saw this at the Hercules with the boys.
It's the movie version of the book by Neil Gaiman, about a star that fell to earth (Claire Danes) and the young man (Charlie Cox) who sets out on a quest to find her.
It's seldom that I think a movie is better than the book it's based on, and that's not really the case here, either, but I did enjoy the movie slightly more. The book is a wonderful fairy tale, but the movie is a vivid rendition of it. It's how I pictured the book as I read it, only brighter, shinier, more alive.
I know I'm not making sense, but it's just a gorgeous fantasy movie, and one that's not dumbed down for the preschool set--you really don't see movies like this very often. I absolutely loved it, and we'll be getting the DVD when it comes out for Christmas.

I can't wait to see this...somehow I missed it over the summer I was too busy...so as soon as I can get it to rent...sounds good! I love Neil Gaiman...and Clare Danes!
I hope you like it as much as I did. We always discuss movies on the way home, and with this one none of us could think of any complaints. That's very rare.
I totally agree.
You put it perfectly. "The book is a wonderful fairy tale, but the movie is a vivid rendition of it. It's how I pictured the book as I read it, only brighter, shinier, more alive."
Loved Charlie Cox, who had a wonderful presence, and gave a very versatile performance.
