TT #40

Thirteen Things about Carl Being Away from Home

Carl left Sunday morning for San Antonio. He'll be there for 10 days (yes, over Valentine's Day. Again. Grrrr.). Here are 13 things, good and bad, about him being gone.

  1. Celibacy. Ten whole days of it. The self-help plan just isn't the same.

  2. It's hard to sleep without him there.

  3. On the other hand, I don't have to listen to the snoring, either.

  4. Getting the mail is a major pain in the butt.

  5. I have to make all the menus myself.

  6. On the other hand, we haven't had Bratwurst & French fries once, and nobody argues with me about including veggies in the meals.

  7. Everything's got to be done by 9:00 p.m.--dinner, cleaning up, dishes, taking the dog out, making the boys' lunches for the next day. Carl usually did all that after the rest of us went to bed.

  8. The boys do a lot more chores when Carl's not here. They do dishes, take out the trash, help with dinner, make their own lunches, and one housekeeping chore a day.

  9. No tag-teaming when I get stressed with one of the boys; no back-up if I screw up.

  10. We always watch movies we normally wouldn't watch while Carl's gone. For instance, we just finished watching Blazing Saddles.

  11. On the other hand, we only have a half hour a night to watch the movies because we've got so much to do in the evenings. (see #6)

  12. I've got to remember a lot of things I normally don't think about--watering the plants, feeding the fish, which trash goes to the curb which week.

  13. Mostly, I miss talking, and the hugs and kisses.

*sigh* One more week.

Don't sigh ! A little separation from time to time is good for a couple, then they only see what they have from each other !

Fingers crossed it passes quickly - it seems you're missing him. Just think about number 1 again & how good it'll be when he gets home.

Awww Darla....it sad that you missing Carl. But hey, you still have me. I can give LOT of hugs! :)

Don't worry...try to keep yourself busy and the week will pass very quickly.....((hugs)) :)

Happy Thursday Thirteen...mine is up

Hey Darla...my husband works afternoons and I work days...so I miss him...all the time. Sorry you must spend V-Day alone...but hey...just wait until Carl gets home...WOOOOOO!

Sueann

absence makes the heart grow fonder. :)

Wow, sounds like he helps out a lot around the house! You're a lucky one!

hello - your purse story was funny!

Oh, Darla! I hope the days go by fast. But watch Blazing Saddles again! Man, now I may have to go find that movie.

I hate it when I'm away from my husband. I can't sleep either. I hope the next 10 days go quickly for you.

Thanks for stopping by my site!

I hope the time passes quickly for you -- I hate to be away from my husband, too. :)

Happy TT, and thanks for visiting my blog!

10 days! I wouldn't survive 10 days without my hubby. Sometimes we are apart for 2 nights and I miss him like crazy already. But hey, think of all the hugs and kisses when he does get home!
Thanks for visiting my TT about support.

I hate when my husband travels. While I get a lot of writing done, I don't sleep worth a damn without him. *sigh*

Hope the countdown to your hubby's return goes fast.

I don't sleep as well when my hubby goes out of town either...even though he snores too. :)

My 13 are up.

It sounds like Carl is a handy man to have around! I'd love not to have to worry about the trash and watering the plants. :)

I hope the next few days pass quickly. Enjoy the movies, and give him lots of love when he gets home.

And it's lovely to see another Cherry on TT! :)

Darla, how sad that he's gone for Valentine's Day! Hopefully enjoying all the things you can do while he's not here (like the movie thing) will help make the time pass quickly!

Happy TT!

Argh. I have a love-hate relationship with the DH is gone.

I love to be able to do what I want when I want and I usually treat myself/the kids....but then again, there are the negatives, many of which you mentioned.

Hang in there!

it sounds like the two of you are inded a team. my husband and i are like that too and i do hte it when he is gone. i hope the ten days FLY by really fast.
thanks for visiting my tt and for, well, you are so generous and i thank you so much! daniel and i both thank you!
hugs!

You're quite a duo. He helps out a lot doesn't he?
I like bratwurst too! but with red cabbage and mashed potatoes.
Thanks for visiting & sharing.
Hope he's home safe and sound soon!

Hugs Darla! May the time pass really quickly for both of you!

Gattina: yeah, it does make us appreciate each other more, so that is a silver lining.

Julia: {{{hugs}}} back. Thanks!

Heidi: I hadn't seen Blazing Saddles in a long time, either--Anna's probably a bit young to be a good excuse to watch it, though. :)

Laura: you're very welcome. It's a great cause.

*I* think we're a great team--and yes, Carl helps out a LOT around the house. Which is really apparent when he's not here.

Aww...hang in there! I miss the tag-teaming and the backup when my husband's gone too. Enjoy your time alone with the boys--he'll be back soon!

Darla your so sweet, I feel like such a bad lady. I love when my husband works a lot of hours, I love having the house to myself, by the time he gets home everything is perfect and in order. The kids are 21, 19 ans 16 so they are not To demanding. :-) Well I hope the times flys for you!

aint a darn thing wrong with bratwurst and FF, though its better when someone else makes it.

Blazing Saddles is verboten in your house??

April, my kids are 21, 16, & 12, but only the 16 & 12-year-olds are in this house.

LOL, Sparky Duck--I like bratwurst, too, but not 2 or 3 times a week. Blazing Saddles wasn't verboten--we just hadn't watched it in a long while (our movie library rivals my book library), and the boys had never seen it.

Home the separation gets better soon..My hubby loves to get the mail as well..Sweet list!

It'll go by faster than you think. And just imagine how hot he'll be for you when he gets back!

What's he doing there, anyway? Can't imagine he's there willingly.

I'm sorry you're so lonely without your husband. Maybe you should plan a Valentine's celebration for when he returns...get someone to keep the children and plan a special night. I'm sure you both would enjoy it.

Thanks for visiting my TT and happy Thursday.

Doug, it's a conference--but it's definitely willingly--he's also checking on our house and our daughter. We like San Antonio. :)

Sassy, the boys are old enough we don't need a sitter, but otherwise, yeah, that's what we'll be doing.
