TT #33

Birthday 13

Yesterday was my birthday, and today we're going HERE (Google's English translation), so the fabulously insightful TT I was going to write about growing up/out/older will have to be postponed until some year when I'm organized enough to do it ahead of time. In its place, I'm offering other people's wisdom on the same subject.

  1. Inside every older person is a younger person - wondering what the hell happened.
    - Cora Harvey Armstrong

  2. To me, old age is always 15 years older than I am.
    - Bernard Baruch

  3. The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.
    - Lucille Ball

  4. It is better to wear out than to rust out.
    - Bishop Richard Cumberland

  5. The secret to eternal youth is arrested development.
    - Alice Roosevelt Longworth

  6. You grow up the day you have your first real laugh yourself.
    - Ethel Barrymore

  7. There are days of oldness, and then one gets young again.
    - Katherine Butler Hathaway

  8. For all the advances in medicine, there is still no cure for the common birthday.
    - John Glenn

  9. You are only young once, but you can stay immature indefinitely.
    - Ogden Nash

  10. If you want to look young and thin, hang around old fat people.
    - Jim Eason

  11. Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
    - Unknown

  12. If you carry your childhood with you, you never become older.
    - Abraham Sutzkever

  13. Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
    - Mark Twain

Some good quotes to have on hand. I like the one that older is always 15 years older than I am. It's amazing how the definition of old changes as we grow older ourselves. LOL! Happy Birthday and have a wonderful trip!

Great quotes! :) Thanks for sharing and thanks for the grins. :)

Herzlichen Glückwunsch nachträglich! Enjoy the Weihnachtsmarkt!

Happy belated birthday and I hope you'll have a great day at the Weihnachtsmarkt! I've been to several German ones (last year to Munich) and I know I loved it!
Great quotes too, especially the first one. Thanks for visiting my TT about Yule.

Thanks for the laugh! And happy birthday a day late. Thanks for dropping by.. happy TT!

All of these saying sa re quite good. I like the second well as well, Lucille Ball and Mark Twain are my very favourites though, funny and true!

Hope you have a wonderful birthday yesterday and sounds like the party is carrying over to today! Have fun.

I also hope you have a wonderful Christmas and winter weekend, lots of good food and time to read and relax with family and friends.

Thinking of you all the best,
Candy

Thirteen college memories for y'all. Happy Birthday! You're twenty-what?

Happy belated birthday! Love all the quotes; Mark Twain remains my favourite. ;)

Melody

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! Doug, I'm twenty-twenty-six. Hmmm. Works better to say I'm thirty-sixteen.

The Weihnachtsmarkt was wonderful. Michelstadt is the best one we've been to--it remains traditional, when so many others are all slick and modern. It helps that the town itself is ancient and the booths are on cobblestone streets next to half-timber buildings. We forgot our camera, damnit, but the website has plenty of photos.

Love the quotes! They're especially appropos for me, because I just turned 50 on December 10th! Hope your birthday was amazing and that your Christmas will be wonderful. Come visit my TT when you get a moment!
